| Carin Gerard studied at the Florence Academy of Art and the Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence
where she was trained in the classical-realist tradition. She painstakingly mixes her own paint using raw
pigment, practices the intense Munsell method of color and creates each painting on the finest European
linen. Her classical compositions of fruit, vegetables, baskets, and crockery are bathed in light and shadow
reminiscent of the old masters. Gerard’s paintings reveal an emotional connection that underlies one’s
ordinary understanding of an object; often taking an ordinary subject and revealing its sensuality within.
Carin Gerard currently lives and works in Montecito, CA |
