When I work there is a sweeping away of external awareness and predetermination,
opening doors through which the core of my emotional perception is accessed,
much like fusion jazz (in particular Miles Davis) maneuvers to the heart
of human sensation.
In the accumulation of an infinite variety of marks and strokes of paint
there is a gathering of moments. Conversely, throwing a small intimate
hand held vessel is the culmination of but one moment. Given that every
moment is unique and an opportunity to reveal truth and unfurl realizations
of the self, then each mark or stroke of paint, or each tea bowl being
thrown, are moments that carry similar promise.
The resolve to inquire runs strong. With persistent marks of paint and
determined repetition at the potters wheel, I find validity, and
a greater understanding of the self. These paintings and tea bowls carry
corresponding possibilities for the viewer.
